By now, most of you would know the results of the Sarawak Elections. As one newspaper headlined the situation, "BN Wins Sarawak, But Grip Loosens". Yes, I think that about sums it up.
Here's an analysis table of the final situation...
Of course, the numeric figures can never fully capture the thrill and emotion of the Election campaign. For that, you have to look at photos. Here are a few shots that, to me at least, capture the essence of the Electoral outcome.
Depressed
Strange looking photo of that man standing next to "Lorong Ubah" sign.
ReplyDeleteHe seems to have abnormally short legs! The whole body seems to be out of proportion. Where are his knees? The lower legs seem to be too short!
Has it been photoshopped?
Me thinks it's just the angle of the shot. Btw, that man's the CM of Penang, and leader of DAP.
ReplyDeleteanon 10.38, i dun care even if he does not have knees or what. But he sure has guts and is a damn good CM.
ReplyDeleteNow that DAP has won big and will form a bigger Opposition, and SUPP has lost big and Chinese representation will be even lesser inside the BN, what should the strategy be?
ReplyDeleteIdeas? Viewpoints? Comments?
Walau! Taib really rushed to get sworn in by the Governor. Cannot wait till morning even.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm, did someone bring a PC to Bali? Sun, sand, sea and ..... ?
ReplyDeleteYou are right 'anon' 12.49, Live Traffic Feed shows a visitor from Denpasar, Bali.
ReplyDeleteSomeone said that Taib rushed to get sworn in to forestall the PM insisting that someone else be appointed CM. Now that he's sworn in, only a vote of no confidence in the DUN can get him removed. With the numbers that PBB has in the DUN, that's a non-starter. Looks like he's going to be with us for some time.
ReplyDelete"Sarawak Chinese infected by DAP Racism" says Dr Mahathir .... WHAT IRONY ! WHAT CRAP !
ReplyDeleteDr Mahathir condemning the results of the recently concluded Sarawak State election as Chinese racism?
ReplyDeleteDr Mahathir is an Indian by birth and yet he holds himself out to be a real Malay, which he isn't and never will be.
C'mon, Doc. Enjoy your retirement. You're not the PM anymore. So please don't stick your nose into Sarawak affairs.
The people of Kuching, Miri and Sibu exercised their democratic rights, free of money politics. The vote against BN is not racism. It's freedom of choice. Respect that.
Pot calling kettle black
ReplyDeleteHow many seats did the Opposition need to win to deny BN its 2/3 majority?
ReplyDelete@Seng, just calculate loh. what is 2/3 of 71 seats? Din study in Elementary Maths meh? answer is 47. so if BN get 47 setas, already 2/3 majority. they actually got 55 seats, which is 8 more than required. In other words, Opposition needed to get 8 more seats, ie. 23.
ReplyDeleteLim Kit Siang moots a DAP-SNAP merger. Interesting idea.
ReplyDeleteWJ, I hear S'pore election heating up too. Will you be starting a series of postings on it?
ReplyDeleteYou just cannot buy peoples' votes with a T-shirt or tupperware bottle or recycle bags can you?
ReplyDeleteThousands were given out but thousands and thousands of votes gone!
tupperware became a hot topic during the campaigning.
ReplyDeletehaha, my travelling expenses back to hometown to vote was partially reimbursed by a certain party and i voted for the other.
