Whatever Happened to These Guys?

Just a short posting. I happened to see these pictures on the Web, and it brought back pleasant memories. When in primary school, many of us kids wanted to be Napolean Solo or Illya Kuryakin, these intrepid guys from the series The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Believe it or not, after so many years, I can still tell you that U.N.C.L.E. stands for United Network Command for Law & Enforcement (I swear I did NOT google that!)

Yeah, those were the days. I remember watching the movies and TV series, and reading the comics. Anybody know what these guys are up to nowadays?

Do share who were YOUR favourite heroes during your boyhood days ...

More on John Lee's Trip

Here are some updates from John Lee (Class of Form 5, 1976) who is back in this part of the world ...

Hi....James

On my recent visit to KL, I had a chance meeting with some of our schoolmates - with the help from Lee Kien, I was able to get in touch and meet up with some of our friends. Unfortunately there were others who was either unavailable or cannot make it on that day, they were Philip Chin, Cyril Moh, Harry Goh, Dato Anthony Macpherson, there may be others but may be you or someone else may be able to name them so that we or anyone calling at KL would be able to call upon. we need another "Bob Chew" in KL.

1. First meeting was with Chee Kok - we had a drink at the Shangri La Hotel
2. Second meeting was with Lawrence Chin, Kueh Fook and Chee Kok  - we met up at the Pavillion Mall, having some Bak Kut Teh

Best wishes to all.

John

He sent me some photos ... (which I admit taking some artistic license with  :)

Photo 2: I couldn't resist doing a "Then and Now" on this one ...

As I post this, John & his missus are now in Singapore, and we will meet up later for dinner.

Here's the group at dinner at No Signboard restaurant, located at the Esplanade Theatres by the Bay ...

It has been 35 years since I last met John. I think it's about the same for both Liang Fang & Richard Lim

Welcome to Malaysia and Singapore, Mr & Mrs John Lee ...

Mini-Reunion in Kuching for Class of 1976

A few boys from Form 5 (1976) who normally reside outside Kuching were back in Cat Town tonight.

In particular our buddies John Lee (based in Huddersfield, UK) and Kevin Chin (based in Perth, Australia) were home. Leong Kueh Fook (normally in KL) also happened to be around.

The following photos and short video reflect the happy get-together ...

Fig 1: A little rounder, a little greyer ... but still handsome lah

Fig 2: Smile for the camera ...

Fig 3: Sons of St Joseph ...

See whether you can recognise everybody.

Here's a little video taken by Ben ...

A Very Happy New Year to all ...

A Wet Cat

Heavy rain and floods in Cat Town right now ...

If you live there, these won't be interesting (you'd be experiencing it firsthand). However if you happen to be away from Kuching or living abroad, these are relatively uncommon scenes ...

Photo 7: Near Wisma Saberkas

Apparently the continuous downpour over the last 12 hours with the King Tide has led to heavy flooding in various parts of the city here, bringing the morning rush hour traffic to a standstill.

Do send me more photos if you do take them, and I'll add them onto this posting. Also share any experiences you have with moving around under these conditions.
