ReplyDeleteI think (A) is along Carpenter Street and (B) is in Padungan (near Tun Jugah building)

How's my score WJ?
@SinBoonPoh - I'm afraid you didn't score too well ... correct only in (B), (C), (G) and (H) ... hmmm, need to "measure the road" around Kuching a bit more. LOL
ReplyDeletewahhh, Boon Poh also know the bench in (C) ... has he ever "pak toh" on that bench ha? hehehe
ReplyDeleteI wonder what "The Red Chamber" is ... a KTV lounge? a lawyer office? a cafe?
ReplyDeleteI think (D) is keeping everyone in SUSPENSE ! Maybe you should ask Ben Wong what it is . hehehe
ReplyDeleteIsn't the photo (A) from Tabuan Road? There is a big temple there. This must be top of the temple. Correct or not, WJ?
ReplyDelete@Lucky Strike - Sorry, (A) not at Tabuan Road. Try again?
ReplyDeleteWJ, Boob Poh is kinda right in that (D) is a sort of tombstone ...just not for a person lah :) Anyone else got it ?
ReplyDelete"The One" is right. Ben Wong should know where (D) is ... Wanna give the boys a clue?
ReplyDeleteWJ, look like people dunno kch leh. Why not do one post for Sibu or Miri? Many old Joes there too.
ReplyDelete(A)is at Carpenter Street, Teochew Association building, next to a carpark.
ReplyDelete(E)is at Jln.Ang Cheng Ho, si boh?
(F) is at Jln. Tun Haji Openg, or was it Main Bazaar......
Anon 9.24pm, you have been watching me 'pak toh' before si boh?
(D)at Satok ha? Old pilon of Satok bridge? near Ben's old hse cum office?
ReplyDeleteBuilding in photo (F)is NOT around anymore, that's why WJ is so sneakkkkyyyyyy...formerly at Jalan Tun Haji Openg...next to Hock Hai Restaurant???
ReplyDelete@SinBoonPoh - you get half-a-point for (A). Yes, it is at Carpenter St, but not Teochew Association. Rather it is the Hainan Association.
ReplyDelete(E) is not on Jln Ang Cheng Ho, I think.
Nor is (F) on Jln Tun Haji Openg or Main Bazaar.
Try again :)
@Anon 11:57PM - You got it ! Wait till I post the bigger picture and you will see ...
ReplyDelete@SinBoonPoh again ... I think you finally got (F) right. If you go to the present Fook Hai in Padungan, you will realise that I took a photo of the picture hanging on their wall.
ReplyDeleteRed Chamber should be opposite or fronting a temple but where ha?
ReplyDeleteI'll survey or like WJ said, 'measure the road' more.
Looks like THE RED CHAMBER is the only one left, that's stumping everyone ... let's see who gets it first :)
ReplyDeleteRed Chamber sounds like one of those Shaolin chambers the martial artist has to fight his way through to get to a higher level, or to escape the temple. Heeeyaaaa!!!!
ReplyDeletePic (D) at very end of Satok Rd., a stone's throw from Ben's old house. It's a monument stone la, telling you the length of Satok bridge, height of bridge, why was it built and when it was built.
ReplyDeleteNow am I right WJ?
You forgot to photograph the public toilet there WJ.
@SinBoonPoh - ha ha ha, you're absolutely right, bro. Did you drive all around Kuching to look for these sites? Found "The Red Chamber" yet?
ReplyDeleteNo, not yet, give me a day or two and I'll find it. Could be right under my nose and I just let it slip by....maybe can ask friends too.
ReplyDeletePut you out of your misery and save you a lot of petrol, SinBoonPoh. It's at the corner of Song Thian Cheok and Padungan Roads. When I first returned to Kuching, a law firm called Mark Foong & Co was there on the first floor. I worked in that firm for a year before I set out on my own. Hence my familiarity with that spot. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Georgie boy, in fact I didn't drive around burning petrol looking for all the places, I cycled around..
ReplyDeleteYou better watch out, WJ is going to get you for 'revealing' the location of 'The Red Chamber' Most likely he'll pull your ears.
Ha! The secret is out! So "The Red Chamber" is not a den for sensual pleasures! What a let down!
ReplyDeletePull the lawyer's ears? Do you think I would dare? He might sue me.
ReplyDeleteEar pulling is the prerogative of only his significant other :)
