The Sleeping Dictionary

.
How many of you know that the lovely Jessica Alba was once in Kuching, acting in a major Hollywood film? Written by Guy Jenkin, "The Sleeping Dictionary" was shot mainly in Sarawak and set during the British colonial rule in the 1930s.

Here's the movie poster ...

And here's the trailer ...

I have mixed feelings about this film. What about you?

  2. "mixed feelings" WJ? care to elaborate?
already watched the movie sometime ago; sexy n exotic n some elements of exploitation. I guess there are quite a number of mixed-blood lasses in Sabah n Sarawak; thanks to some of the gallant Mat Salleh who have generously and indiscriminately sowed their fertile seeds on our shores. Some of these gals have made it in the Malaysian Ford Models Search in these two states. Apparently pan-asian looks are still
very much sought after here; the eyes, the nose, the skin colour, etc, etc.

  3. You already said it, Anon. A bit too much colonial exploitation of Sarawak natives for my liking.

  4. But now it is even more disheartening and tragic to
see our very own people, the sons and daughters of
Sarawak exploit the defenseless natives under the guise of bringing "development" to them by robbing
their ancestral lands and cruelly displacing them
    from their rightful home.
And when their daughters, sisters, cousins or mothers got raped by some of the manimals, the blame was conveniently put on them for being "promiscuous".
Shame on those so-called "champions" for the poor and down-trodden. Education has clearly done no good
    to these hypocrites.

  6. How many of you knew that this film was banned in M'sia, and of course in Sarawak???!!!

When I was told about this banned movie, I went high and low searching and looking for the vcd.

Well, I found it, been keeping it for quite sometime already, seen quite a number of times already too, and will still watch when I'm free..

Full length movie, guys, no cut one, no censor one, everything can be seen, except you know what.

So, anybody wants to borrow??? The vcd I mean.
